Importance of trees

Trees are our best friend. We can’t imagine our life without trees. They help to reduce pollution and bring rain. We can use all parts of tree for some or other use.
At present the world is surrounded by pollution. The temperature of our earth is increasing and the snow glaciers are melting. It affects the season cycle also. It can cause lot of natural calamities like famine, flood, cyclones and earth quakes to name some. Our country is developing rapidly and this is possible because of industrial expansion. This industrial expansion brings with it all types of pollution. So we need trees to contain this pollution. Trees absorb carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide and give us oxygen. They are like saints who take every bad thing and return good things only.
Roots of tree hold the soil firmly so that the dust does not fly much. Also during rain the fertile soil does not flow away at the trees stop erosion. Planting trees also stop the desert from advancing. Trees help in preserving the ground water and so the land stays fertile. More trees mean more rain so less chances of famines.
Trees are the clothes of our mother Earth so it is our duty to preserve them. It is a wonderful and cool feeling to sit or sleep under the cool shade of tree. It is our duty to pass on this natural heritage to our future generation. If we don’t preserve trees then next generation will see them in museums only or on National Geographic channel only. Trees are home to many kinds of birds and animals also. If there are no trees then these animals and birds will also not live.
Trees give us wood to build our house and furniture. Any part of tree can be used as an Ayurvedic medicine to cure us from many problems. These medicines have no side effects as they are totally natural and so easily accepted by our body. Also these medicines remove the problem from the root so no chance of the same problem arising again. It is possible to cure very hard disease on which no other medicines will work.
Any country or state should have at least thirty percent of forest cover. Our country has only twenty three percent of the forest cover. It is up to us to preserve this natural heritage.
In our state we celebrate “Van Mahotsav” to grow more trees. It is a good sign. Everyone should take an oath to plant a tree on their birthday every year. In this way we humans can return something to out mother earth.
