My Morbi 2 (The Mahabharata)
These
are the signs in Morbi near Rafaleshwar GIDC. We can truly understand the sheer
neglect of govt which has built up GIDC in spite of the historical importance of
the place.
One
sign on this site is the wheel marks of Arjun’s chariot. At present it has been
enclosed by a wall to prevent eroding by the rains and industrial content of
the land. It’s a kind of metamorphic rock on which we can see clear wheel
marks. Of course it needs further excavation and research. But there is a thing
like pride in preserving this piece of history.
Second
piece on this site is the footmarks of the powerful Bhima, the Herculeus in
Mahabharata. It’s also in utter state of depletion and people have erected a
cement platform of it. Just to make sure that it’s preserved, but that’s not
the right way of preserving things. People must be able to see it. Lets hope
that govt lends an ear to it and preserves it and makes it a pride in the pages
of our history. How can we consider ourselves to be civilized by losing the
pieces of our history?
