The most elusive coin of India
Inter-Parliamentary
Conference-1997 coins
This
coin was for the occasion of Parliamentary Conference on the theme Towards
Partnership between Men and Women in Politics.
As a
tribute to the conference, the Indian Government released also a special stamp
as well symbolizing the concept of partnership in the symbol of man and woman. The
coins and stamps have become part of the collection of National Museum of India
(New Delhi).
Unissued
set but the most unique thing about this coin set is the double diamond mint
mark under the year. It was distributed only among the dignitaries attending
the conference.

A snippet about the coin set
Another unissued set went for close to $5,000
in the Baldwin Hong Kong auction.
This
is the fourth set known till date: 1st in National Museum, New Delhi, 2nd Sold
at Baldwin's Hong Kong Auction for USD 5000, 3rd sold on eBay for USD 4995 on
25th May, 2011 and the 4th sold on eBay for USD 4995.99 on 23rd Dec, 2011.
Therefore I truly say it is the most elusive coin set of India.
