The Medieval age of Morbi 1
Jethwas (Jothwa Rajputs)
According to Charni Vahivachha it is said the Mayurdhwaj or Mordhaj
lineage had Tamradhwaj, Neeldhwaj, Kansdhwaj kings. Naoji was born in the ninety
third (93rd) generation of these kings. Naoji established the town
of Bhimmore. Sangji was born in the eleventh generation of Naoji. Sangji
defeated King Waghela by planning tactics on the hill of Morbo and giving him a
brave fight. King Waghela was on the attack on Bhimmore. In order to make this
grand victory immortal Morbi town was established on the banks of river Machchu
which flowed to southern side of Bhimmore and through the hills of Morbo. According
to the devotional songs of the Saints of Saurashtra also it’s mentioned that
there was a place named Dheldigadh which was later renamed as Morbi.
Vikiyaji was in the forty seventh generation of Sangji. I 1201-2 AD
Gujarat was being ruled by the Muslim Sultans of Gauri clan. At that time
Jalalkhan alias Kutubdin Aibak won Morbi from Vikiyaji and established it as a
Suba of Gauri clan. In 1204-5 AD Vikiyaji gave a big fight and won back Morbi
but ultimately Sultan Gyassuddin of Gauri clan came to Morbi with his army and
surrounded it and ultimately Morbi went to the Sultans of Guari clan.
